Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women and 1 in 833 men in the U.S. In 2025, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Early detection is key—66% of cases are found at a localized stage, when treatment is most effective.

Despite advances in screening and treatment, breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer death among women, with approximately 42,170 women expected to die from the disease in 2025. The average woman’s lifetime risk of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 43 (2.3%).
